Saint Joseph's School Philosophy
St. Joseph's School is a Catholic educational community dedicated to the spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, emotional, and aesthetic development of the children entrusted to our care. Our shared Catholic faith and Gospel values are infused into our academic curriculum, our service to others, and the daily life of the school. We strive to develop in our students a love for God, a love and respect for themselves and their fellow-man, and a sense of responsibility for continuing God's work of creation and redemption as citizens of the world.
As a school community we continuously strive to achieve the goal of academic excellence which will enable us to meet the unique needs of each student in our child-centered learning environment. Our challenging academic program is based upon New York State Learning Standards and the curriculum of the Archdiocese of New York. We work with our students to develop critical thinking skills and creative expression in order to cultivate independent, life-long learners.
We acknowledge parents and guardians as the primary educators of their children and strive to support and assist them in their God-given work by forming with our school families an expanded teaching/learning community which enables all of us to grow together to reach our human potential.
St. Joseph's School is an integral part of the St. Joseph's Parish Community and depends on the larger parish community for spiritual nourishment and temporal support. Just as we are strengthened by participation in the prayer, worship, sacramental, and community life of the parish, we recognize our accountability to contribute to the spiritual life of the parish and to its various ministries and services to others.
